UPCOMING MEETINGS

May 21 General Meeting - In line with one of our guild’s core values of community service and charitable giving, Elisabeth Barrata  share her quilt journey in Africa, where she taught sewing to the local African women.  Also, Jason and Cinnamon Miles from Sew Powerful will talk about their non-profit organization. Sew Powerful enlists volunteers to assist with assembling purses for young girls in Zambia. Jason and Cinnamon will explain how such a simple gesture as making and giving purses to these young girls can make a difference in their quality of life, including their education, vocational training, health, and farming.

May 3-4 (Noon-3pm PDT) Global Quilt Connection All Star Sampler Platter:
This virtual 6-hour program consists of 18 teachers with 18 demonstrations over 2 days. Each demonstration is 15 minutes in length. If you miss any of the live demonstrations, a link to the demonstrations will be available for 72 hours.  All of our guild members will be able to remotely join the program from the comfort of their home. The link for this virtual program will be emailed to all of our guild members just prior to the event.

May 22 will be a sew day at Shepherd of the Sierra Fellowship Hall where you can donate your time and talents to making purses for Sew Powerful. The workshop is at no cost. Kits and pattern will be provided. Please plan to bring your sewing machine, sewing tools and lunch for a sew day.

WHAT'S NEW ON THE WEBSITE

  • If you make a Quilt of Valor, we'd like you to pin a status label to the back so Troop Support can keep track of them.  Labels are on the Community Outreach page, under Troop Support.
  • Thanks to intrepid photographer Sue Hoffman, we have pictures of the quilts from our recent quilt show.  They are best seen on a computer, where you can look at each group as a slide show.  You'll be amazed at what you missed in real life!   They're on our new Quilt Show page.

VISITING OPPORTUNITY QUILTS

We love to see Opportunity Quilts from other guilds and support them by purchasing tickets.  We have lists of who's scheduled to bring their quilt to our guild meetings for the next couple of years on our Contacts page.
