DIANE STEELE, SPEAKER AND WORKSHOP, FEBRUARY 2017

Diane Steele is a passionate quilter born and raised in Northern California. She’s active in 2 quilt guilds, the president of one.  She’s worked in a quilt shop, collects antique quilts, lectures and teaches quilting and is a member of the Calendar Girls, a block exchanging and very fun group.  She’s inspired by her fellow quilters, quilt shows and quilting magazines so she always has several quilt projects going at a time. She calls herself a Rabid Quilter!

Her lecture on February 18 is on  "Group Quilts."

Diane’s class is “What's in the Box?"  This 3D Box technique can be inset in the One Block Wonder pattern to add wonderful focus or made on its own.  Make a “Floating Boxes"  optical-illusion quilt like the one pictured below or choose a food-themed or holiday runner like the Halloween one pictured at the bottom.  It's a great stash-buster! All you need is 1 1/2" strips in light, medium and dark of one color to create the sides of the 'box' and a small amount of fabric for the inside. These are show-stoppers!
